Mission architecture
Turn a scientific or technical objective into a flight concept, system architecture, and practical development path.
Independent technical consultancy · Netherlands
Nordsval Atmospheric is an independent Netherlands-based consultancy for high-altitude balloon systems and atmospheric research programs.
01 / Capabilities
Technical depth where disciplines meet—and practical help where a program is still becoming real.
Turn a scientific or technical objective into a flight concept, system architecture, and practical development path.
High-altitude, long-duration, and superpressure balloon concepts, including system trades and flight-readiness work.
Bring instruments, avionics, communications, power, structures, and operations together as one flyable system.
Develop and integrate measurement systems for atmospheric science, climate research, and experimental programs.
Plan campaigns, build procedures, prepare teams, and solve the real problems that appear at the launch site.
Identify suppliers, evaluate unfamiliar technology, and tackle unusual R&D questions without a ready-made playbook.
02 / Experience & approach
Nordsval is strongest in early-stage, technically unusual work: the point where requirements are moving, interfaces are messy, and progress depends on informed hands-on judgment.
Daniel has consulted in aerospace and atmospheric systems since 2012. His experience includes Project Loon, building balloon capabilities for climate and research teams, and supporting atmospheric science programs from development through field work.
The working style is direct and collaborative: clarify the real objective, expose the important risks, build what is missing, and leave the team with a system and process it can operate.
Ambiguous technical programs that need an experienced builder.
Focused advisory, embedded development, or field support.
Independent consulting since 2012.
03 / Based in Europe
Working with research institutes, technology teams, and mission partners across Europe and internationally—on site when the work calls for it.
